Local deliveries, towing and long-distance transport place different demands on the drivetrain.
A loaded van or light commercial vehicle needs controllable power delivery. We discuss typical payload, short and long journeys, towing and your desired torque curve. The engine, clutch and transmission must suit the planned calibration.
For heavy trucks, gross weight, route profile and time under high load matter. Vehicle-specific calibration can change the usable torque characteristic. Sensible reserves depend on the engine variant, drivetrain, cooling and technical condition.
TORQUE WITH GOOD JUDGEMENT
A suitable torque curve can help provide the required pulling power in an appropriate engine-speed range. The aim is driveability matched to the application. Avoid sustained operation at excessively low speed under high load as well as unnecessarily high revs.
Shift strategy, gearing and allowable component loads are also considered. More torque does not automatically mean lower fuel consumption or higher permitted payload or towing capacity.

A reliable comparison is more useful than a blanket percentage.
Record fuel volumes, distance, typical loads and routes. Idling, auxiliary consumers and different drivers can influence the figures.
Compare several similar trips under conditions as consistent as possible. In a fleet, a clearly defined comparison vehicle can help assess potential.
Evaluate consumption and driveability alongside calibration costs. Different driving habits or frequent use of extra power may also increase fuel use.
CONDITION IS THE FOUNDATION
Maintenance, mileage, fault messages and known problems are discussed before calibration. Issues with injection, boost or exhaust aftertreatment need professional assessment first. Tuning does not replace repairs.
